The plant has traditionally been used in different parts of the world for various ailments . Miscellaneous compounds is employed as an indigenous medicine for a variety of ailments like cough, bronchitis, viral infections, foul ulcers, anorexia and wounds .
The leaves of O. kilimandscharicum are acrid, thermogenic, aromatic, insecticidal, antiviral, appetizing and deodorant and are useful in cough, bronchitis, foul ulcers and wounds, opthalmopathy and vitiated conditions of ‘vata’.
