Kannanthali: Exacum bicolor Roxb. Flower The plant is photographed from laterite rocky area or ezhimala, the natural habitat of this plant. This plant is in the verge of extinction due to over exploitation of Laterite rock. You can not find this plant anywhere in this earth as this plant is endemic to this area.. People of Kerala are well familiar with the name as many poems and songs mention the beauty of this plant. The petals are looking like the kajal laid beautiful eyes, and thus the name "kannanthali". 

Regarding the medicinal property, this plant is good for inflammation and burning sensation.
