Arthritis & Joint Pain

Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are two forms of arthritis that are experienced by a lot of people. This may limit the patient’s body movement and even cause them disabilities. There are many types of arthritis that millions of people have bones to pick up with. One of them is osteoarthritis which happens due to worn out cartilages. It happens more commonly on the knees, hips, spine, and hands. On the other hand, rheumatoid arthritis attacks not just your joints but the eyes, heart, lungs, blood vessels, and skin too. It can deform the joints and deteriorate bones as the immune system attacks the body tissues which affects the lining of the joints. Rheumatoid arthritis can cause swelling on the affected area and can lead to physical disabilities if not treated.

Both conditions are more likely to occur as people age and can be passed through the genes, although women have higher risks of developing rheumatoid arthritis. Moreover, obesity also contributes in getting both conditions as excess body weight will add more stress to the joints. Smoking can worsen rheumatoid arthritis as well.
