കോട്ടയ്ക്കൽ: സംസ്ഥാന സർക്കാരിന്റെ മികച്ച ആയുർവേദ അധ്യാപകനുള്ള ആത്രേയ പുരസ്കാരം ലഭിച്ച് ഒരാഴ്ചയ്ക്കുള്ളിലാണ് ഡോ. പ്രകാശ് മംഗലശ്ശേരിയുടെ ആകസ്മിക വിയോഗം. ആയുർവേദരംഗത്തെ മികച്ച ഡോക്ടറും അധ്യാപകനുമായിരുന്നു. കോട്ടയ്ക്കൽ വൈദ്യരത്നം പി.എസ്. വാരിയർ ആയുർവേദ കോളേജിൽനിന്ന് ബിരുദം നേടിയ അദ്ദേഹം ജോലിചെയ്തതും ഇവിടെത്തന്നെ. ഗുജറാത്ത് ജാംനഗർ പോസ്റ്റ് ഗ്രാജുവേറ്റ് റിസർച്ച് സെന്ററിൽനിന്ന് കായചികിത്സയിൽ ബിരുദാനന്തരബിരുദവും നേടി. ബിരുദത്തിലും ബിരുദാനന്തരബിരുദത്തിലും ഒന്നാം റാങ്കോടെയായിരുന്നു വിജയം.
1998-ൽ കേരള ആയുർവേദ ഫാർമസി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കേരളത്തിൽനിന്ന് മികച്ച ഓട്ട്ഗോയിങ് വിദ്യാർഥിയായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു. ദൂരദർശൻ നാഷണൽ ചാനൽ ആയുർവേദത്തിലെ യു.ജി.സി. പ്രോഗ്രാമുകളിൽ മികച്ച തിരക്കഥാകൃത്തായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരുന്നു. ദേശീയ തലത്തിൽ മികച്ച ഗവേഷകനുള്ള അവാർഡ് 2002-ൽ പുണെ അക്കാദമി ഓഫ് ആയുർവേദയിൽനിന്ന് ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ആയുർവേദചികിത്സയുടെ പ്രാധാന്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് അമേരിക്കയിൽ നടന്ന സെമിനാറുകളിൽ രാജ്യത്തെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിച്ച് പങ്കെടുത്തു. പ്രമേഹം, വന്ധ്യത എന്നിവയ്ക്ക് ആയുർവേദത്തിലുള്ള പരിഹാരമാർഗത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് പഠനങ്ങൾ നടത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
